Mising Home for Giving Home
*This is an entry for the March Blog
of the Month Competition. *
Dreams. Happiness.
Desires. Achievements. Becoming a doctor is not just a dream but a passion. And
this passion makes you do things that you have never imagined to do. Admission
in medical college is one milestone which we achieve after a seemingly long period
of hard work, right?
Different cities
but one dream.
From never
travelling alone to doing everything on our own, we became responsible as
''hostellites''. From all the facilities at our home to facing light problems,
flooded rooms and water unavailability, we learned how to adjust ourselves
under any circumstances. Distant from home, we got to know the worth of our
loved ones really well. From not sharing even a bar of chocolate with our
siblings to eating in a single plate, we understood the worth of being
together. From sharing every little problem with our mothers to handling big
matters on our own, we became mature. From sleeping only with our siblings to
sleeping with our dormmates, we learned how to adapt. From waking up only on
our mother's call at 6 in the morning to waking up by one ring of our alarm, we
understood the worth of time. From starting the day with "mama's anda
paratha" to eating just a sandwich for breakfast, we missed home. From
being desperate for holidays to meet our families to cancelling the plan
because of tests, schedules, etc., we learned how to be patient. From being
scared of just the sight of cats to having them in your rooms almost all the
time, we kind of loved them.
Hostel,
hostellites, hostel life is just a different phase but a new and refreshing
one! This place helps us grow the self-confidence which was otherwise not
possible. This is the place where we learn how to love, care, and support each
other. This is the place where once we enter, every day is the beginning of a
new chapter. A new hope and a new reason to believe in ourselves to love people
who remained there no matter what. We go through "ragging phase"
initially, scared of seniors but at the end, these seniors are so caring and
helpful throughout your time in hostel.
We do each and
everything on our own, get hurt, feel happy, enjoy with the best roommates,
even cook by ourselves but this in turn makes us more responsible, more kind
and caring individuals.
Life of a
hostellite is just like spring. With every passing moment, new flowers bloom,
we cherish the presence of their beauty. We encounter new colors; bright,
vibrant, radiant.
With facing each problem,
we become brave!
From studying to
sharing viva depression together, friends became closer.
Above all, we all
share our dream to be "The Cream of the Nation" together.
